NHS Warehouse

Project Description

NHS has been a long term partner of ATB Morton and we are proud to have completed their most recent investment in expanding their warehouse and product range to service the Newcastle and Hunter Valley construction industry. NHS engaged ATB to undertake concept design, approvals & construction for their most recent expansion works consisting of a warehouse addition adjacent to their existing Cardiff premises.

Presented with unique challenges of historical mining operations running under extensive portions of the site, ATB Morton got to work developing a solution that delivered the scale of industrial development needed to achieve NHS objectives including all mine subsidence designs, investigations and grouting works.

A simple but refined industrial facility was developed that sits comfortably within the surrounding established industrial streetscape whilst displaying a clean street appearance along this leafy industrial area.

The site, along with the historical mining constraints, also included significant cross fall and vegetation which needed to be cleared and retained while ensuring that suitable stormwater upgrades and retaining were established.

The final build resulted in a clear span warehouse with dedicated amenities and flexibility in design to allow for a small office or trade counter install should it ever be required.

A large wrap around driveway presents ample opportunity for external storage and provides dedicated heavy vehicle access around the building. This ensured that traffic volumes and flows were easily incorporated into the design and functionality of the development, including linkages to the existing NHS premises to the east.

The final warehouse and amenities development has resulted in significant expansion of the NHS underroof stock area and will enable the addition of new product lines to support their growing trade first retailing experience.
